Crossroad Preschool:
Ministry programs serving the
inner city of South Minneapolis
General Information
Donations are needed for the preschool fundraising project: "Cookies for Scholarships". Need 1 quart canning jars, cocoa, flour, sugar by November 8. If you can donate any of these items, please bring them to the preschool or call the preschool at 612-332-8516. Thank you! Purpose
The purpose of Crossroad Preschool is to provide an environment where children can grow socially, emotionally, physically, mentally and spiritually. We seek to provide an atmosphere where each child feels loved, secure and special. We serve predominantly the Phillips and Elliot Park neighborhoods of Minneapolis.
Enrollment
We are licensed for two classes: The first for 20 children, ages 4 to 5 (children in this class must be 4 year old by September 1 of the year they are to attend preschool), and the second class for 14 children (ages 3 to 4). Children in this class must be 3 year old by September 1st of the year they are to attend preschool.
We are licensed by the Minnesota Department of Human Services and are accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).
Hours
The class for 4-5 year olds meets Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. September through May. The class for 3-4 year olds meets Thursday and Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. September through May.
Tuition
No one will be denied participation due to an inability to pay. Sliding fee scales are an option, as are payment plans. Partial or full scholarships are also available. We suggest tuition based on gross
family income. Suggested tuition rates for the 4-year old class ranges from $10 -$65 per month, depending on income. Suggested tuition rates for the 3-year old class ranges from $10-$45 per month, depending on income. If tuition is difficult to pay, we work with each family on an individual basis to determine what level of tuition is feasible. Please call the preschool for details.
Parent Volunteers
Parents or other caregivers from each family are encouraged to volunteer in our classroom or join us on a field trip or other activities several times a year. It is a wonderful opportunity to observe how your child interacts with others at school and to see what is of special interest to your child.
Transportation
Transportation is provided for those who need it within these general geographic boundaries:
north: Mississippi River; south: Lake Street; east: Cedar Avenue; west: 3rd Ave./I35W.
Meals
A nutritious, interesting lunch is served each day at noon. Parents are welcome to volunteer to help prepare the lunches.
Staff
The preschool has three staff members: a director/co-teacher, a teacher, and a bus driver/teacher's aide. The teaching staff has specialized in early childhood education, and between them have over 25 years of experience. They love children and love to teach! Our bus driver is also very experienced and is qualified to drive our 25 passenger bus.
